Picasso Project

Make a contribution today and help us bring the arts back to Philadelphia’s Public Schools.

The Picasso Project was created to increase arts education opportunities for students in the School District of Philadelphia and improve the capacity of schools to provide arts education experiences.

PCCY makes grants of up to $5,000 to Philadelphia Public Schools for projects that enhance and enrich the integration of the arts into the curriculum and classroom, often in partnership between school teachers, artists from the community and local arts organizations.

To date, the Picasso Project made grants totaling $181,892 to 52 programs, reaching approximately 12,000 students in city public schools.

The need is high: Pennsylvania Alliance for Arts Education estimates that roughly half of Philadelphia’s public school students do not have access to arts education currently. PCCY’s advocacy for students’ arts access is also needed, and the School District of Philadelphia, the arts community, business community and citizens of Philadelphia are responding to the need with a number of initiatives and directives to return arts to schools.
