PCCY received a phone call to our free Child Health Watch Helpline from parents who work in the restaurant industry. Neither of their jobs offers health insurance. They could not afford to buy private insurance for themselves but they wanted health insurance for their son. PCCY helped the parents enroll their son in CHIP health insurance. The parents were grateful to be able to take their son to a pediatrician and get the health clearance he needed to join a sports team at school. PCCY is unique in its combined efforts to improve health care, education, child care and juvenile justice for children and youth in the Philadelphia region.
