Child Care

PCCY works with advocates, child care practitioners, families and legislators to expand access and improve the quality of early care and education (ECE) resources. Decades of research shows that access to high quality ECE bolsters working families’ ability to be productive employees, prepares kids for a lifetime of learning, and lays a foundation for children’s healthy development. Public sector investments in high quality ECE provide proven savings in reduced public costs and prepare a workforce for future employment and contributions to the community.

PCCY’s child care team staffs the Southeastern Pennsylvania Early Childhood Coalition, prepares advocacy materials and position papers on pertinent child care issues and advocates to increase investments in ECE programs. Please contact PCCY’s child care staff to learn more about what you can do to support high quality ECE for Pennsylvania’s kids.

Pennsylvania State Budget: Not There Yet (July 2010): The recently signed state budget is not yet a done deal for programs that serve children. A portion of the state budget is still uncertain and is awaiting action from Congress. Click here to find out how Federal dollars can still impact child care and early learning in Pennsylvania this year and what you can do to prevent cuts to high quality early learning services.
